I found a gem from the land of  “never-heard-of-it’. It’s called ‘New Suit’, and it gets a ‘recommended’ by Moby. ‘New Suit’ is sort of a modern update on ‘The Emperor Has No Clothes’ with a nice Hollywood twist. Our protagonist is Kevin (Jordan Bridges), a writer who can’t get his work read and is basically not taken seriously by ‘Hollywood’ types (think Ted Danson, but as a writer). And so Kevin ends up taking a menial job as an office assistant to a desperate Hollywood producer played by veteran actor Dan Hedaya. Dan does a great job; he really nails that surprised, wide-eyed ‘You looking at me?’ thing he does so well. Continue reading »

Your cable is out for the weekend, so no cable television and no Netflix or Hulu streaming. All you can get on the TV is the local Fox affiliate, which has some ‘B’ movie that escaped from the Lifetime Network back in the 90’s (and was actually released in theaters) wrapping up…and another will be starting soon.

And then it happens. Underdog. Yup, up next on the only channel you can get is Underdog, but at least the signal is strong. Continue reading »

I’ve noticed that in addition to all the superhero movies/comic book ideas  that there are also quite a few cartoons to live action films, a la The Chipmunks and Yogi Bear, also in development right now. Some interesting choices, too.  Can you say Hong Kong Fuey? Wow. That was the one that caught Moby’s eye. I mean, if their actually going to do a Hong Kong Fuey film, then Moby can think of all kinds of stuff he would like to see made into feature films. Continue reading »

Following the record opening for the avengers this weekend, I decided to pop into HSX, the Hollywood Stock Exchange, to see the reaction the market was having to the record breaking opening of The Avengers. The impact was immediately clear.

If you will, just imagine a camera doing a dramatic close up of Dr. Evil as he asks for…200 Mil-lion Dollars. So it’s huge, and everybody is shocked, even those claiming not to be (does anything shock them, ever ever?). But what Moby wonders is…are superheroes now their own genre, like horror and sci-fi?
