Forgive me for I have sinned…I went and paid money to see Run All Night. And you know it was not all that bad for a 2 hour long commercial pitch for handguns.

The movie is very well made and has a great cast. Liam is his usual, gun toting self. I think at one point he must have had several guns in his possession. Good for him.

Liam plays the part of a washed up mob hitman who likes guns, keeping them hidden and within reach all over the place. It’s as if every time he’s in trouble, he has a gun or gets one from a convenient hiding place.

Is this a great country or what? Continue reading »

IdrisI’ve had this idea for a while now, but with the revelations in the Sony emails about the possibility of a black man, Idris Elba, being considered to play the role and the controversy surrounding the idea…I have a few thoughts.

Again, nothing new. My idea is a bit simple and came from, of all places, Star Wars. Disney’s plans for the Star Wars franchise include one-shot movies in between the main movies of the series featuring things like space fighter pilots.

So I got to thinking one day of all those actors who are considered by many to be the ideal James Bond but will never get the role. What if they did? Continue reading »

JR9I have enjoyed Jessica Riddle’s music ever since I discovered her work via Pandora years ago. Her first album, Key of a Minor, is so full of great tracks I was surprised to find she had only one follow up album, Chapter 2.

Until now that is. Jessica’s next album, I Like Mine, is available for pre-order right now and will be released on April 3, 2015. Since it had been a while since we last heard from her, I decided to reach out to Jessica, to ask a few questions.

So, it was a great moment when she said yes to a little request for a short interview. Thank you Jessica!

jr8a1) The still photo’s you’ve posted seem to show someone having a lot of fun. What inspired the new album and how was it to make?

The album is titled I Like Mine after a song on the record. The lyrics are “These moments make a life, and I like mine.” If I appear to be having fun it’s because I am living my life with passion.

I have been inactively working on this record since the day I released my second record, which is about 12 years ago. I didn’t start actively recording until last Spring. I have been very busy living and writing, working and loving, crying and laughing. You know, all the things that make for good songwriting!

Over the years I have slowly built up a home studio that holds the capability of recording an album. I owe a lot of gratitude to the friends and family that have helped me steal the time and have helped boost me when I lost momentum or confidence. Continue reading »

idicI was thinking of addressing something like this, so I am very glad Star Trek Phase II show runner David Gerrold posted this rant to his Facebook page. He makes a great point but is missing one important part.

He calls out the fans for being disrespectful of the people who make the films, saying that Trek fans should act like Trek fans and be tolerant and such. But what about those who MAKE the films. Should they not also be held at least to the same level of civility? Continue reading »

Chappie_posterForgive me for I have sinned…I went and paid money to see CHAPPiE. And you know it was not all that bad overall.

The movie can best be described as being better in total than it’s separate parts would indicate. There’s plenty to not like about the movie throughout, but all in all I actually enjoyed it.

Of course, Spoilers!

There’s plenty of thuggery and lawlessness, and perhaps that was not necessary. Why the producers decided to make this film the way they did…I just don’t know. Perhaps there is some meaning to it, some sort of man vs machine version of moral equivalency. The movie seems to be saying that we humans are no better than machines, that we are all messed up too.  Continue reading »
