I was blown away when Greater Mercury Comics artist Brian James Riedel shared these images with us during an email interview recently. Along with several unpublished pages and such, Brian also dug out and scanned a couple of his tryout pieces that landed him the job as the artist on Edge!
From the upcoming interview:
I was at Golden Apple Comics on Melrose for my weekly fix of four color and B&W madness, when I noticed a wanted ad on the bulletin board for comic book artists that had been posted by Dale Quick. I gave him a call and we arranged to meet sometime later.
He showed me some of the earlier Silverwolf issues of the characters (I had no idea who any of these comic book heroes were, I never heard of Silverwolf) and asked me to do a samples of Grips. So, off I went to see what I could do with the character.”
Here is the other tryout piece he sent, a sample page. Many, many thanks to Brian for his understanding and taking the time to indulge his fans.
The complete interview will be posted very soon!
You think this is good? You haven’t seen anything yet. This dude is AMAZING. He can draw like the rest of us breathe. I await the release of more genius.
(one of his biggest fans)
This is great work, knows how to light a scene, does he have a website?
Howdy,
Those of you interested in other stuff I’ve done can start here at this old blog I abandoned.

I’ve posted lots of comic art that never got published, had a small audience, or was self published. You may not find much in the way of super hero stuff, but there is cool stuff to see.
Thanks to Moby’s! for sparking an interest in my stuff.
