Recently, Kris Silver returned to the internet with Silverwolf.info. Although the site is basically a beefed up version of his former shop and is still being developed, there’s already quite a few rare, behind-the-scenes artifacts from Silverwolf and Greater Mercury’s short publishing span available for the first time.
For the first time many one of a kind or very rare items are being offered for the public. Things like original comic book scripts, artwork, company newsletters, layout and publishing negatives have been slowly being added to the site. And of course there are copious amounts of back issues from both companies (in near mint condition no less) to fill any holes in your collection. It’s worth noting that there is a flat $3 shipping for all orders, which Moby likes.
Another piece of good news for collectors: Original Art! Only a few pieces have been sold, but that means that the site contains nearly all the pieces of original art that have been offered so far. The prices are above market value for the most part, but where else can you get a piece of history from the B&W glut of the late ’80s and early ’90s?
But it’s not all old stuff, relics from from the past…the biggest news of all is that Silverwolf is truly back, releasing it first new product in decades! Now available…the Silver Quill Double Plus Magazine issues #1 and #2!
A guy who made comic books releasing a comic book-sized ‘magazine’ that is not a comic book? I’ll be the first to say I was not sure what to expect. But once I was able to actually pick up the first issue I was impressed with it’s size and binding.
The magazine is ‘perfect bound’ (I believe) and totals 56 pages, counting the covers. There is a 15 page catalog/checklist of SW/GMC products in the center as well. There are three tales being told within, and the issue is indeed comic book sized to fit perfectly (bagged and boarded of course!) with all your other comics.
Silverwolf is promising plenty of new content to come, from new tales like the Silver Quill to ‘Comic Continuations’. These will of course carry on the stories for almost every character on the SW/GMC roster. We will now find out what was to be had SW/GMC continued publishing almost 25 years ago!
So…new stuff, rare stuff, unseen behind-the-scenes stuff. And how about something with Nightmaster, something all new coming today. My money is on the first continuation, but who knows? Maybe it’s an unpublished issue…?
Oh, and Kris…thank you.
