Last time I went on a bit about not quite getting what I had bargained for when buying original art. Sure, I forgot to ask questions, ignored a few obvious signs, but in the end it’s not like I was buying a Picasso or something.
This time though, I want to share on of those few times I got MORE than I bargained for…and that’s a good thing.
The piece I’m going on about was one of the covers for Dean Koontz’s Nevermore #1, by Leno Carvalho.
Here’s a nice scan of the original, you can click on the image for a larger version:
And now the cool part..the back side of the art has the original pencils! I assume a lightbox was used to ink the piece.
Pencils on one side, inks on the others. Nice!
Not sure why they went with three covers for Issue #1…this one was clearly the best of the lot, eh?
Finding those pencils on the back of the inks made my day, it was quite a nice surprise to say the least. Who knows what we’ll find next time…
